A lovely visit to Philadelphia and a thank you note to my followers and readers
Every now and then my daughter’s tennis tournaments take me to improbable places. A few weeks ago we were in Virginia, just me and my daughter. This time in New Jersey — with my wife and our twins (my daughter and her brother).
These trips are not easy. She’s a good tennis player, but it’s a long journey and she’s very young. So sometimes you travel far, spend a lot of money, and she loses all of her matches on the first day. Sometimes it’s in the middle — she has a great start, but then loses a match she could’ve won; should’ve won. It was like that today. But we’ve had a good trip. Before the tournament, we spent a couple of days in New York City, and today, after her match in the morning, we traveled to Philadelphia. It was just twenty minutes away from the club.
I loved Philadelphia! So much history on every step! It wasn’t my first time in Philadelphia. In 1995 I spent a year in Oklahoma, as a foreign exchange student. I was fifteen then. For spring break the organization that arranged my and other students’ stay in America took us on a bus trip across the country. We visited Saint Luis, Philadelphia, Washington DC, New York City. I don’t remember Philadelphia from that trip, so today’s visit was like experiencing the city for the first time.
