I recently wrote about the greatest (in my not so humble opinion!) novel of all time.

Here are a few notes on a very different genre that I love.

Life by Keith Richards

Spoiler alert: Keith Richards did drugs.

I loved it. If you think the greatest rock-n-roll roll band went through some wild times, you’re underestimating how wild.

I struggle to listen to albums that were released in the decades before I was born (before 1980 that is), however great they are known to be (say, the Dark Side of the Moon, or Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely…). Individual songs — sure, but not entire albums. After reading Keith Richards’s book though, I downloaded Exile on Main Street and listened to it back and forth numerous times.

Unstoppable by Sharapova

I’m Russian; my dear 10-year old daughter Taisiya is a hard-working aspiring tennis player; my wife used to play and works with her relentlessly. I’ll even allow myself to mention Taisiay’s Instagram (she has slightly more followers than I do on Medium, but she doesn’t know that I have a secret plan to catch up!)

You can guess I was very curious to read about Sharapova’s path.

I found Maria’s story about her younger years very touching. However, I felt the line…
