I thought I’d document a few things a week after my latest marathon. My time was 2 hours 46 (just!) minutes. I’m approaching 43 years of age.
It was my third marathon in eighteen months. I improved from 2.57 to 2.46. I hope to improve again this year.

In no particular order.
- I train in Saucony’s Speed 3 and race in Nike’s Vaporflys or Alpaflys (the latter for my most recent marathon). I also use Nike’s race shoes for my speed works outs, usually once a week.
- I am 5.11 (178 centimeters), and my weight range is between 155–158 pounds (70–71.7kg). I once reached 148 pounds, but my weight tends to revert to 155–160. Well, “revert” is a relative term. Before I started running a lot three years ago, I weighed closer to 190 pounds (85 kig!). Look at these two extremes — the difference is two and a half years!
